Purple Disco Machine

Purple Disco Machine, Tino Schmidt, also known as Tino Piontek, is a German disco and house music producer and DJ born in 1980 in Dresden. Through his father, he was exposed to Western rock music at a young age. In 1996 he started producing with Cubase and some synthesizers; at the same time, he discovered house music in Dresden’s nightlife.

Tino has always been a big fan of Prince and borrowed the first part of the name from his hit Purple Rain. The second part was taken from the name of the band Magic Disco Machine, whose track Scratchin he had liked since childhood.

Purple Disco Machine craftily combines the genres of disco, funk, and house. He grew famous in 2013 with the release of the banger My House, which remains one of the best-selling tracks on Beatport to this day.

Tino is also known for his remixes of tracks by famous dance music artists, including Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Foals, Elton John, Gorillaz, New Order, and Tom Odell.

His most significant success happened in August 2020 with the song “Hypnotized,” recorded with Sophie and the Giants vocals, and peaked at number two on the charts.
